Land of the free...if your just like me.

There is a strong terrorist threat in America today! It's not the one you hear about on TV, or on the radio. It's not black people (Sorry Rush). Terrorism some may say is pretty strong wording but the ideas pressed onto our society, is pretty overwhelming nonetheless. This applies to politics, religion, and even things that a measurable by statistic.

Marijuana..Pot...Sticky Icky...Whatever you want to call it is still illegal. We get to hear about it's dangers and the terrible things it does by Teachers, Parents, and the News. However, the only statistic you need is that there is no documented case of death by Mary Jane. The drug, not my ex-girlfriend...she's always been dangerous. ;0)

Tobacco and Alcohol kills everyday. And it's legal. Sure there's a lot of politics involved in the criminalization of this herb, but at it's core it's a completely harmless plant. Why ban it? We are the land of the free right?

As far as politics and religion, parents always seem to want to bring up little versions of themselves. You'll see bumper stickers saying:

"Christian parents, raising Christian Kids"

It's fine that you believe in God but things that don't have truth tied to it (scientific truth), should be left for the kid to discover on his or her own. Even though I'm an atheist, i wouldn't want to force that on my children. As Mona said in a comment, kids aren't nearly old enough to feel the "thirst" to discover that kind of thing on their own yet. Religion, or Politics are not something that you should take someones word for. They are both brought out through self-discovery. Basically sorting out your internal thoughts, and figuring out things for yourself. What you truly believe and stand for should be reflected in your political or religious choices. I'm an atheist, yeah, but because I've taken the time to think about it and realized without real evidence, i won't buy into the concept of "God." At least at this point.

If the skies opened up, and God appeared in front of me..levitating down from the sky and said:

"My name is Tom, and i am the only true God"

I would say i didn't believe him, and if he hit me with thunderbolts, and then maybe could tell me what was going to happen in the next 5 minutes, I'd definitely believe. I'm skeptical, but not unshakable.

However, most people in society find it eaiser to listen to what people tell them to think, than to actually take the time and think for themselves. This is Internal Terrorism of your brain, they're putting your mind in shakles. Many people don't mind, but i do. Perhaps its because they feel that they're part of a group. I'm not sure, but either way when somebody says something, and she gets millions of supporters to agree with her, it doesn't make her right. And If he's wrong, then he's no less wrong the rest of the followers.

So, there is truly no need to cling to the ideas of others except for sheer laziness. If you do a simple self-analysis and find out what your core beliefs are then you really don't need anyone else to validate you. You may be wrong (I may be wrong), but none of this really matters because when it comes to our orgins, nobody can really be certain. It's a veritible clusterfuck of thoughts thrown around. I tend to follow the science, you may favor the religious theories. Either way, it should be about the individual, and not what one individual says the other group of individuals to believe.

and i'll be damned if you ever see an "atheist father raising an atheist kid" sticker on my car.
